Pride, Racers Happily Await The Arrival of WCWS Draftees


The 2012 number one draft pick of the National Pro Fastpitch League will lead her LSU Tigers to their first Women’s College World Series appearance in 8 years this week. Brittany Mack, selected number one by the USSSA Florida Pride and her Bayou Bengals squad will be among the elite 8 programs who qualify for the prestigious WCWS, which begins play Thursday. LSU received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament after posting a 34-21 regular season record. Via Pac-12 Honors Arioto as Pitcher of the Week (5/14): “BERKELEY - Senior Valerie Arioto pitched the Bears to a 5-0 win over No. 2 Arizona State for the top-ranked California softball team to win its Pac-12 Championship, making her this week's Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week. ‘"It is an awesome accomplishment to be the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week," Arioto said. "My team's defense was behind me the whole time. It's hard to get past them! NCAA Regional Results Are In: Draftee Updates


5 Pride Draftees move on to the Super Regional round of the NCAA tournament, while 2 draftees’ teams fell just short of regional tournament wins. Michelle Moultrie of the University of Florida and UCLA’s Andrea Harrison both concluded their college careers this weekend.  Ironically, both Moultrie’s and Harrison’s teams were eliminated by Florida teams, dropping regional titles to the University of South Florida and Florida State, respectively. Moultrie ends her University of Florida Tenure as the college’s career leader in batting average at .385 and stolen bases at 83 in 99 attempts.   … [Read more...]

Pac-12 Honors Pride Draftees


The Pac-12 honored USSSA Pride Draftees in their All-Confrence softball announcement made on May 16. Valerie Arioto, the 8th overall pick in the 2012 NPF Draft, was recognized as the Pac-12 Player of the Year.  Arioto, a senior utility player for the Cal Bears, is the first softball player in her school's history to earn Play of the Year Honors.  Arioto, a 3-time All-Pac-12 honoree, leads the nation in walks per game (1.37), and leads her conference in 4 additional categories.  She earns a spot in the utility position of the All-Conference 1st Team. Valerie Arioto Named Pac-12 Player of the Year


Valerie Arioto, the 8th overall pick to the USSSA Pride in the 2012 NPF Draft and Cal Berkeley utility player, was named by the 2012 All-Conference Player of the Year by the Pac-12 on May 16.
