NCAA Regional Results Are In: Draftee Updates

5 Pride Draftees move on to the Super Regional round of the NCAA tournament, while 2 draftees’ teams fell just short of regional tournament wins. Michelle Moultrie of the University of Florida and UCLA’s Andrea Harrison both concluded their college careers this weekend.  Ironically, both Moultrie’s and Harrison’s teams were eliminated by Florida teams, dropping regional titles to the University of South Florida and Florida State, respectively. Moultrie ends her University of Florida Tenure as the college’s career leader in batting average at .385 and stolen bases at 83 in 99 attempts.   … [Read more...]

2012 NCAA Softball Bracket Released

On May 13, the NCAA released their 2012 Division I Softball Championship bracket, announcing the regional line-ups for the Nation's top 64 softball programs, including the teams of all seven of our 2012 USSSA Pride Draftees. Draftee Valerie Arioto and her team, the number 1 seed Cal Bears will host Iona, Boston University, and Arkansas in the University.  Cal will face Iona on May 18 at 7 p.m.. Christi Orgeron Named SBC Player of the Year

For the second consecutive year, Christi Orgeron, the 20th overall pick made by the USSSA Pride in the 2012 NPF Draft, was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year.  The Announcement was made by the SBC on May 9. Orgeron, utility player for the University of Louisianna at Lafayette, leads the nation in RBI with 89 and RBI per game with 1.82.  Orgeron has also become the SBC career leader in doubles (62) and RBI (283). SEC and SBC Honor Pride Draftees

Both the Southeastern Conference and the Sun Belt Conference have honored USSSA Pride Draftees, making their All-Conference player announcements today, May 8. The Pride's 12th 2012 NPF Draft pick, Michelle Moultrie of the University of Florida, was recognized as the 2012 SEC Player of the year.  Moultrie leads the SEC in both batting average at .395 and fielding percentage with a perfect 1.000.
