National Pro Fastpitch has teamed up with MTV and the producers of “Made” for an episode that will air on May 5th. Kelley Montalvo of the Akron Racers was selected as the “Made” Coach and was given an opportunity to coach and mentor a young softball player along her journey of trying out for the high school team.

I was very pleased to had gotten the chance to see this episode of MTV’s MADE. I too lost my father at the young age of 14. He was my softball coach, mentor, and best friend. Watching this episode truly brought tears to my eyes seeing that I was not the only one this situation has happened to. I too struggled with playing but decided to push through the pain and never gave up the sport. I also went through the same feelings towards my mother and excepting the fact that she needed to move one as well. I was very blessed to continue to play Division II college softball at West Chester University in Pennsylvania. As a twenty year old going into my senior year of college, I am proud to say that I am one of the starting pitchers for my organization and if it was not for my father and some of the amazing coaches that came in to pick up the missing pieces when I felt as though I could not go on, I would not be where I am today. Congradulations MTV MADE and Kelley Montalvo for the great episode you have produced and the lives you have changed.
